I love this place. I've ordered different things everytime (burrito, quesadilla etc) and have loved everything I've ordered. (They also have really good mango margaritas!) The chips that they bring out before your meal are always fresh from the oven and never over salted.
The thing I like best about it is the open air setting. It's located in downtown Redwood City and it looks out onto Broadway just like City Pub. There are tables outside for a nice summer night and when it's just a little chilly, you can eat inside with the doors and windows open. I recommend this place highly!
Although the workers here can be a bit rude (maybe it's just that they don't speak a lot of English this place has an amazing selection of Italian foods. When my fiance is making his pesto sauce he comes here to get the 3 different cheeses that it requires. They also have a selection of pastas, meats and snacks that you wouldn't find in a normal grocery store. There sandwiches are pretty good, as well. And, as I said, they have a wide variety of meats and cheeses to select from.
As I mentioned, the service wasn't that great. The three people there never looked up when we came in, never said a word as they were ringing up our cheeses, and didn't seem to happy to help us find anything either. Maybe we didn't look Italian enough for them! In any case, that's why they only get 4 stars.
The food here is pretty good, although it is a little overpriced. I really like their chicken Caesar salad. They also have a good selection of breakfast foods like muffins or bagels. The have an outside patio eating area that is right on the water so it's a nice setting for a summer lunch.
Expect a wait when you come during the lunch hour. Not because the food takes too long but because the adorable older man behind the counter likes to talk to everyone for awhile before ordering or finishing their order.
One of my fiance's favorite restaurants in the Tahoe area. We came here one night on our way out of town and the view of the lake at dusk was amazing. The food is pretty good, but kind of expensive. I only gave it four stars because I don't eat seafood so I really didn't have much to choose from.
I have never had a good experience at Pine Cove and I used to get so mad at my friends, everytime they wanted to keep coming back here every Thursday night!
Why I hate it here:
*Long lines that aren't worth the wait once you actually get inside.
*No credit cards accepted!
*Rowdy people who could care less if they spill their drinks on you.
*The popcorn out of the machine is delicious, but it's right outside the bathroom and I'm sure not everyone washes their hands before feasting on it!
*The floors are ALWAYS sticky...sick!!!
*Bartenders aren't that friendly.
*It's super tiny and all the tables are always taken.
The one redeeming quality that this place has is kareoke...but that's not saying much because you know it's just a bunch of drunk people who can't sing!
This is a convenient place to come if you are in a sorority of fraternity, to get anything from keychains, to bumper stickers to pens and pads. I say convenient because the selection isn't as wide as other places I've been to, but this store is located near campus, others you would have to drive out of your way to get stuff. In other words, if you need something quick, come to this place.
They also do embroidered shirts and sweatshirts with Greek letters on them. The quality of their work is just alright, nothing spectacular, but again, if you need something in a hurry, this is the place to go.
What I like about McGovern's:
*It's really big!
*The bar is almost as long as the place itself
*The jukebox has great music.
*The drinks are reasonably priced.
*There are tons of tables so you can always find a place to sit.
What I don't like:
*Although the bar is big, there is usually only one or two bartenders, so it can take a while for drinks.
*The bathrooms are ridiculously small and there are only two stalls.
All in all...the good out weigh the bad, so I continue to come back here!
This place has every bar game that you would want to play, plus video poker machines and an arcade! The staff here are usually from Romania which makes for an interesting conversation if you can get into one with them.
They also have a dancefloor and outside smoking patio. I highly recommend this bar...for the kid inside all of us!
And not just cause I won gambling there...but that is always a plus.
This local bar has a lot of local flavor. Everyone there is really nice and welcoming and the staff seriously enjoy working there, which is always a plus for me.
Whenever I'm in Incline, which is often because I have family there, we stop by this place for a late night drink or even stay the whole night! As I said, there's gambling (video poker machines) plus other fun bar games to play. There's also an outside patio where you can bring your drinks and enjoy either cold or warm Tahoe nights!
Although this place is called the "Irish" bank, they really have everything to offer to eat. I've been here a couple of times for lunch and have always wanted to come back on a Saturday night, but still haven't made it yet.
Like I said, their menu is extensive. While the specialize in potatoes and fish and chips, they do have mac and cheese, meatloaf and a HUGE selection of beers!
The main thing I love about this place is the outside seating. Because it's located down an alley, you don't even feel like you're in the city anymore. And if you are a smoker, it's ok if you're sitting outside.
