Kent's is ALWAYS an adventure. It's located in the WORST part of hartford. Everytime you go you are garunteed to see an elderly woman sitting just outside the door or inside the store who will ask you for money. While you are buying alcohol she sits there and yells about how you are definitley NOT 21 and you shouldn't be buying alcohol. On rare occasions you can catch her in a good mood (quite possible on a good trip) and she'll tell you to have a great time when you go out boozing. Other encounters include, but are not limited to: seeing drug purchases, witnessing some form of violence, being asked for money, being asked to buy drugs, being asked to sell drugs, being asked to purchase sexual favors, requests for sexual favors in return for money. It's scary until you get back, in which case the stories provide an excellent source of entertainment .
I got a few piercings here about 2 years ago. The facility is very clean. I am from New Jersey, however, and in nj any piercer is required by law to be licensed by the state to pierce. This is not true in CT which makes me a little nervous but they did a great job!
Jerry's is awesome! I went to Hartford Art School and I was one of the many unlucky freshman who didn't have my car because of the outrageous prices the school charged for a parking permit. On the first day of school I realized I didn't have any of the supplies I needed on the lists the professors handed out. Jerry's actually rented a limo that took the students back and forth from the art school to the store for about a week. They do it every year and it was one of the highlights of my freshman year. They are reasonably priced and always have great sales.
I was looking to get my nape pierced a while ago. This is a considered a surface piercing (these are sometimes rejected by the body/are easily infected). Everywhere place I went to told me they dont do surface piercings and I wanted one so badly. Pleasurable did it for me. The facility was very clean and everyone was very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about piercings. I still have my nape peirced today and I love it. It never gave me any problems. The prices are fairly similar to other peircing places.
This store has everything the skateboarding/snowboarding kid could ever need. Their prices are pretty good for the equipment they sell (keep in mind, that kind of stuff doesn't come cheap) They carry all the brands everybody loves and usually have pretty good sales.
Some people say a deli, is a deli is a deli (nobody acutally says that, but hopefully you understand what I'm saying). Lotitos is a DELI. The food is excellent. They pack enough meat and cheese between two slices of bread to feed an army! It's located in a little strip mall so it's a great place to grab some food while you're running your errands.
This restuarant is really nothing special. The food is decent, but offers nothing to really make it stand out from all of the other pizza places in the area.
Rusty is a great guy! My family has been going to this pet store since it opened about 4 years ago. It's just a 5 minute drive from where we live, which is a BIG deal in Ringwood. He's a great conversationalist and he's always ready to help, and his dog is really cute too!
This deli/catering service is no longer in business. It has recentley been replaced by a new deli/catering service called the aussie cafe or something. From my understanding it is pretty good, however the title is misleading, its just classic american food with fancy australian titles.
It certainly isn't the cleanest place in the world, but keep in mind it's a pet shop. This place has been in business for what seems like forever! It was my favorite place to go as a kid, this was my toys R us. The upstairs is filled with beautiful fish, goldfish, freshwater, tropical freshwater, tropical saltwater, anything you can imagine! It gets even better when you go downstairs and see the assortment of pets they have! Anything from birds to bunnies, and some bugs to feed your scaley friends too. Just watch out for lose crickets!
