Probably the best thing about Cafe Bean Street in the deli in the adjoining room. Many people get their beverage and grab a table to enjoy their food from the deli. On weekend mornings the coffee shop is hopping which is a testament to the good coffee. They do sell some pastries but seem to have difficulties keeping the case stocked.
Westlake Gifts have been in the Lake Meadows area for a long time. They have many stationery items as well as a variety of gift items. The merchandise turns on a regular basis. This is my favorite place to go to get summer outdoor dining unbreakables.
Alteration Specialists are located in the Lake Place Mall on State Street in Lake Oswego. They do everything from alterations to custom clothing and that is all they do - this is not part of a retail store. I have had several alterations done by them, a couple were major, and all were done exceptionally well. You get treated just as well not matter how big your job is. And watch out for the little dog sleeping in his bed in the corner - he is so quiet you may miss him.
Naturals Clothing Store is in the Lake Place Mall on State Street in Lake Oswego. All the clothes are made of natural fibers such as cotton and linen and flax. There is not a huge selection in the store but it is good quality.
The Upper Crust has a wide range of breads and they are all good. They even have several kinds of bread made with spelt. When you are in the shop, be sure to get the flourless chocolate cookie - it is divine.
Dyke Vandenburgh is right on the main drag in Lake Oswego, but don't expect to just stroll in. They are often in the back and you must ring the bell to get "buzzed" in. Once in, there's no pressure to buy, although they delight in showing off what they have. And most of it is very spectacular and custom. You will see stones in very unique settings and the workmanship is flawless. This is the place to go for that special piece.
The Glass Butterfly has a nice selection of moderately prices clothing for all age groups. If you are expecting snobbish Lake Oswego attitude, you will be pleasantly surprised. Do sign up for their mailing list so you can get in on the sales which are quite good.
There is not much parking near Graham's Book & Stationery in Lake Oswego, but it well worth the short walk you might have to take. This store is jam packed with every imaginable stationery item, including write-in-the-rain water proof papers. They have greeting cards and desk accessories as well as some unique gift items. All spread out on two floors.
The Clothes Closet is a women's resale shop and they have good quality stuff. If you are thinking of bringing something in for them to sell on consignment, be prepared for them to reject anything that is not clean and pressed and if it's got wear, they will not take it. Follow up on anything you leave there as they are not very diligent about contacting you when something sells. For shopping, this store is very good.
Lucky me is a small gift shop-in the heart of Lake Oswego. They have the biggest selection of pink poodle stuff I have ever seen! But don't let that put you off from going as they have tons of other unique stuff at reasonable prices.
