Peck's has it all (including the New York Times daily) - produce (increasingly organic) and basic supermarket staples. Nice small town feel to it too and the community bulletin board really lets you know what's up.
eh.... I was disappointed. Feels too resort-y and not serious a ski place, even though it is small and I wasn't expecting much. I left feeling like hanging out in the lodge was more fun than being out in the snow which is not what you want after buying a lift ticket!
It is very easy to get sucked into this ski shop. They have everything you might need - googles and hand/feet warmers especially important to me. I try to just breeze in and out for what I really need or else I end up spending a lot of $. Go at the end of the season when the sales are hot.
Ski Windham is known for its adaptive ski program and this organization is largely why. They are innovative and inspirational and really love this sport which is why they are dedicated to having as many people participate as possible. Our family races in the annual ortho race to support the foundation. Good time always.
Prices a bit cheaper because you are not up on the mountain. They have great rental and lift ticket packages. Friendly, helpful service will get you right fitting skis.
Great place to stop in case you forgot a crucial piece of equipment. As it is on the mountain the prices are a bit steeper than down below but their end of the season sales are worth stopping skiing a bit early to take advantage. Great selection of newest, high quality products. Excellent t-shirts too.
I LOVE this restaurant. It isn't cheap but so worth it for the delicious food and nice atmosphere. The duck is a particular favorite. Once a ski season we try to save enough to stop here and have a great, great meal. Beautiful views of Elk from the dining room.
I love Elk. Great trails, even for the most experienced and it still has a nice family atmosphere. Very little of the annoying chic skier thing going. Excellent night skiing for those on a budget
Big city pizza taste in a small town setting. I love coming here with my family. Always piping hot, tasty and friendly service. If you don't feel like pizza their pasta is good too.
I've been skiing here a few times with my kids. Best is that they ski for free which is great when they are just learning and can't handle a more challenging mountain. Otherwise they really only have three runs.
