Coffee Shack
A great place to stop on your way to Volcano Park. The view of the ocean is fantastic. There is a gigantic avocado tree in view and the coffee trees are plentiful. The facility is clean and the staff friendly, but sometimes slow, but after all Island folks aren't usually in a rush. The baked goods are tasty, especially the cinnamon rolls. You can purchase a sandwich for lunch at the Volcano National Park.
Shipwrecks Subs
I come to Shipwreck for the Ice Cream. Better than Lappert's with just as many flavors and a lot less expensive.
Traditional flavors are available, but flavors unique to the Islands are worth trying. I like the papaya or mango.
Gaylords Restaurant
The setting is beautiful with the tables arranged around a courtyard.
The food is very good with a selection ranging from fish, pasta, venison, lamb and, my favorite, prime rib.
I believe the atmosphere is what attracts guests to this restaurant.
The butterfly garden is wonderful. If you ever want to be kissed by a butterfly, this is the place to go.
Eggbert's Kauai's Family
I believe breakfast may be served all day. Lunch and dinner items are available, but I've only had the breakfast. I didn't find the service to be particularly great and it took a few minutes for someone to notice that I wanted to be seated.
The pancakes were pretty good, light and fluffy and there was quite a variety to choose from.
With a name like Eggbert's one would expect the Eggs Benedict to be fantastic. It was not.
Kilauea Bakery & Pizza
This bakery, not only has wonderful baked good and breads, but the goat cheese and pesto pizza is fabulous. I could eat here every day!
Inside seating is very limited, but there are a number of tables outside, however it's a popular place and those are usually occupied. I think it's best to get the pizza to go along with one of their delicious macaroons for dessert and a loaf of fresh backed bread for breakfast and lunch the next day.
Banana Joe's
If you want great fresh fruit or nuts while visiting Kauai, Banana Joe's is the place. The fruit is always fresh and I believe that some fruit is grown by the owners. They have smoothies and frosties. I liked the frosties best! They also carry numerous locally made products. It's truly worth a visit.
Banana Patch Studio
An absolutely amazing place in old Hanapepe town. Featuring South Pacific art and some local artists. The gallery has a viewing area to watch artists crafting their wares that may be sold in the gallery.
A warm atmosphere with a friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Campbells Bbq
This is by far my favorite BBQ place in the Portland area. The food is, not only delicious, but there is so much, you'll have another meal at home.
Ribs are my favorite and there is a variety of sauces to choose.
It can get crowded, but you won't be sorry you waited and you'll be back, I promise.
Mac Electric Inc
Mac Electric did the wiring in our pole building. Their bid was competitive and their work was done in a timely manner.
The electrician doing the work made suggestions that certainly will keep us from having to call for more electrical work in the future.
We highly recommend Mac Electric.
Able Fence Company Inc.
Reasonable prices and timely work will describe Able Fence Co.
Nathan gave us an estimate beating the other 2 fence companies that gave quotes.
Work was started and completed as promised.
We highly recommend Able Fence Co.
