Creative Interiors By Gail
First off, they have moved - their new address is just south of 119th St. on 503, just south of the cemetery I believe. Anyway - I went in asking for help with a couple of my rooms. I didn't want major remodeling or new furniture - just needed help with colors and design. A designer visited my home - talked to me, took photos and then selected a number of possible accessories for my home. She came out with the accessories and 2 men who helped move furntiure to try different arrangements. She really nailed it. Her ideas were fantastic - little things that never occurred to me. She put together beautiful pieces and brought in color - exactly what I had hoped for - far better than what I expected.
Some of their accessories are a little spendy, but you pick and choose what you want and what you don't. Their designer was extremely friendly and not pushy at all. I simply could not have come up with these ideas on my own and I'm so grateful for the help of this designer. A little spendy - yes. Worth it? Absolutely.
All About Air Heating
We have a 3,100 sq. ft. single level home that sort of meanders around. The heat/AC unit that the house was built with was terribly under powered to service the home so we were always hot in the summer, cold in the winter. When it finally gave out, we called 3 contractors and settled on All About Air. The quotes were all very similar but this company I believe offered the larger sized units which my husband thought would be better for our home. They set us up with 3 "zones" throughout the house. Each is controlled by it's own thermostat. So we can be warm in one area, cooler in another, whatever we want. I LOVE IT!!!! Finally our house is comfortable inside despite what the weather is doing outside. The owner is extremely knowledgeable about his products and line of work and all employees were very fast and respectful of our property. They all did an outstanding job - we would highly recommend them.
Battle Ground Library
What an amazing job the community has done in raising the funds and managing this project through to completion. The residents here are very lucky to have such a beautiful library staffed with such friendly and helpful people here to serve us. Me and my kids love the new library and by the crowds we see there, others do too!
Kent Excavating
We've used Bob's twice now - both times for the county's requirement for an annual inspection of our tank and this last time to pump the tank. He was friendly, called before arriving, right on time and ready to go to work. Very pleasant business to work with - we would use him again and recommend his service to others.
Blackstone American Grill
Where do I begin.....when we arrived I was impressed by the ambiance. Nice decor, spacious. Then we sat down and listened to hard rock music - not so nice. The greeter and waiter were friendly and that's the nicest thing I can think of to say about this place. The menu was impressive, the food and service were not. My husband ordered a Chardonnay, I ordered ice tea and our friend ordered coffee. After some time we received a Cabernet and an ice tea and after much more time, finally a coffee. The "NC BBQ pork sandwich" I ordered was anything but. Unlike a real NC BBQ sandwich, which is pulled pork in a sweet BBQ sauce, this one had big chunks of pork burnt around the edges. The sauce may have started sweet, but it was generic at best and not sweet. In NC they serve this with cole slaw on it. My friend asked if they did this here - no, it would be on the side. Good she said - she did not want it on the sandwich. When her sandwich came, it came with the cole slaw ON the sandwich - so we asked to have it prepared again, which was done quickly. But then we had to specifically ask, twice at least, to bring her cole slaw on the side and also her fried dill pickle which was also supposed to be included. My sandwich came with the cole slaw and dill pickle on it which was fine except that the portions were so meager they barely covered a small portion of the bun. We're not talking expensive condiments here -just a pickle and some cabbage. Surprisingly when my friends "sides" finally arrived, they were quite generous. My daughter ordered "mini cheeseburgers" from the child's menu. She was served what looked to be a quarter pounder. She didn't mind.My husbands chicken dish was missing fries but he decided his portion was sufficient without so he didn't even bother to ask and the waiter didn't notice. Although friendly, the service we received from our waiter was pretty bad. It was incredibly slow, the orders were not delivered as the menu described and we constantly had to remind our waiter to bring us food and beverages. For what we received, the prices were out of line. If the menu delivered what it represented, it would be worth going to this place. From our experience, we will never go there again.
La Bottega
I've been here a couple of times. The first time was just to buy a few bottles of wine from their retail wine section. I stood there for probably 15 minutes or so looking at all the bottles, but at no time did any of the employees ask if I needed help. The wine selection was okay and reasonably priced. I had to flag someone down to ring up my purchases. My husband had lunch there the other day and thought the food was great, so suggested we go together over the weekend. He did think the meats on his sandwich were sliced too thick, making it difficult to eat (we were told they were pre-sliced so they couldn't slice them thinner). Service was slow then, but since it was a weekday lunch and they were very crowded, he pretty much expected that. This weekend we went there for lunch. We were quickly seated and given menus. After a bit the waitress took our drink orders and then we were pretty much forgotten about (the waitress actually admitted she forgot us). I don't quite understand how we could be forgotten - this is a pretty small restaurant. In any event, she apologized profusely and assured us she wouldn't charge us for our wine (which we still didn't have). After she left the table - I told my husband "you watch - when the check comes, we'll be charged for the wine". Our food came relatively quickly after that - but we still didn't have our wine or our water (I asked for 1 glass of water). She said she was having trouble opening the wine bottle. We had to wait another 5-10 minutes for our wine and had to ask again for our water. Service aside, the food is very good. My husbands ravioli looked and tasted homemade - not store bought and my vodka pasta was very nice, though a little hot from the red peppers which I didn't expect. The bread was outstanding. They offer "small" or "large" portions, which is nice. The check arrived promptly - and as I expected, we were charged for the wine. We paid the bill in full and left. Poor service is one of my biggest pet peeves, so I won't be visiting La Bottega again. That said, plenty of people LOVE this place as evidenced by how crowded it can get. So long as you're patient and don't mind a few possible oversights in the service, you won't be disappointed by the good food, good wine and fair prices.
Camas Produce
I've been here a couple of times in "off season" months. Bought some fabulous muscat grapes - sweet as sugar, for half the price they were being sold for at Whole Foods. Also bought some great oranges - sweet and juicy - what a concept! I noticed prices on many other produce items were very competitive and the quality of their produce is just fantastic. When produce is in season they try to carry lots of local produce, which I really appreciate. This is a great little store and deserves our support!
Elite Collision & Auto Spa
My husband took his car to Elite to have the inside detailed. He had owned the car for 4 years and it had never really been cleaned inside - it was disgusting. This service isn't cheap - their basic detail starts at $99; it cost my husband $249 - but they did a beautiful job - it looks like a brand new car inside. They shampooed the carpeting, cleaned out the ducts - no more musty smell at all - it's really beautiful.
He also had them fix a large scratch that ran across the hood of his car. They sanded it down and repainted the hood to exactly match the rest of the car - at half the price the dealership quoted to do this repair.
All of this took 2 days. The people were very polite and friendly. While we can't afford $249 all the time to detail the inside of his car, we're very glad we had it done and feel it was money well spent. I would highly recommend Elite for work on the inside or exterior of your vehicle.
Chem-Dry of Vancouver
We used this company for this first time this week. They gave me a quote via e-mail, then I arranged to have them come to my house to pick up and clean my area rug. They had the rug for about a week, though if I had been in a hurry I'm sure they would have returned it sooner (I was not in a hurry). The rep was courteous and on time with both pick up and delivery of the rug.
They did a nice job on the rug. I would definitely use them again.
Cafe Jennifer
This is a mother/daughter restaurant in Battle Ground - across the street from the Albertson's - just north of the new "Goodwill". I have been to Cafe Jennifer a number of times for breakfast. The daughter is usually there to take our orders and is always very pleasant and helps us pick out exactly what we want. She is always there to refill our coffee and ask if we need anything. They have a good variety on their menu, good prices and great food.
It's not easy to see this place from the street and I worry that this may be their down fall. Hopefully they will be discovered by the locals and stay in business. Battle Ground really needs great family owned restaurants like this one.
