Softies
I have been going to Softies for as long as I can remember. My mom took me to Softies when I was growing up usually as a reward for being good in church and now I get to take my kids to Softies. For our family the first trip to Softies is recorded in the baby book complete with photos. My only complaint is there is so many different ice cream choices and so little time to eat them all. Seriously I love their dipped cones and their slushy drinks now if they could just get more parking. Softies is a great place to go and meet old friends or make new ones sitting on the benches enjoying your favorite ice cream treats.
Denver Mattress
Recently my husband and I needed a new mattress. We went into Denver Mattress with an idea on what we wanted as I had looked at their products online and narrowed it down to what we could afford to get with our budget. The sales staff showed us a few different mattresses in our budget and helped us select the mattress that was right for us. Not once did the sales staff try to push us into buying a mattress that was out of our price range.
Mac Kenzie River Pizza
Want a great place to take your out of state Friends and Relatives especially ones visiting from back east than head over to Mac Kenzie River Pizza. The decor is distinctly Montanan complete with a bear holding a fish. The service is great and the prices are not too bad considering that they have more of a specialty pizza line. Even if you get items to go they serve it up fast. One of my favorites is the Salmon Cesar Salad.
China Buffet
China Buffet is a popular place with my children. The food is great and they like getting to pick items from the buffet especially the doughnuts. When they are done eating they like sitting and watching the fish in the display pond at China Buffet. The service is excellent and the prices are reasonable
Dragon Palace
One of my favorite places to go eat is at the Dragon Palace in Laurel. The food is excellent the service is great and they are just willing to let you sit and enjoy your meal. The fish tank is an attraction for the kids and they have a stand of various reading material such as books for children and Readers Digest. The only problem that I have with Dragon Palace is they don't have a child's menu and their portions are quite large for a smaller child to eat.
Mr Thrifty Foods
I can not begin to tell anyone how much money I have saved over the past few years shopping at Mr. Thrifty Foods mainly because I don't care to take the time to find all the items I buy at other stores and compare the prices.
While Mr. Thrifty Foods might have items that are scratched or dented the savings are great.
Things at Mr. Thrifty Foods are hit and miss which means you might find an item one time but the next day they might be out of that item. I am not going to tell my favorite items to get at Mr. Thrifty Foods because I want to increase my chances that those items would be available the next trip I make to Mr. Thrifty Foods.
The owner Larry and his staff take the time to get to know their regular customers by name. Mr. Thrifty Foods has one of the best front end customer service teams that I have seen. They not only bag your groceries in plastic bags or your own reusable bags or box them in a banana box if that is your choice. They will carry your groceries out to your vehicle for you and place them in for you. They don't however pack them into your house or apartment for you. For that your on your own.
Don's Barber Shop
Recently my husband finally decided to get a hair cut after I was saying I was going to have to start french braiding his hair. We stopped in at Don's Barber Shop in Laurel. Don's is ran by Don who does a wonderful job cutting hair for men. He knows his customers and asks how their relations all are. Don has been cutting hair in Laurel for years. Unlike most Barber Shops that are closed on Monday Don's is open on Monday but closed on Friday. The only services that Don's offers is hair cuts and beard shavings and trims nothing more.
Jayne's Signature Sweets & Supplies
For my youngest daughter's first birthday I knew I wanted a number one cake, but I also knew that the number one cake pan was not going to be large enough for my large family. When I went into Jayne's Signature Sweets and explained my situation they were able to come up with a great cake design.
Besides making cakes Jayne's Signature Sweets also sells supplies for making your own cakes and candies at home including sugar free candy melts.
While their prices for a cake are a bit more than going to a national chain store their quality of design including doing custumized cakes and great taste are worth the little extra.
Due to the custumization of each cake Jayne's does require advanced notice to order a cake so be sure and order early for your next birthday, baby shower, anniversary, or other cake needs.
Grand Garden Chinese Cuisine
Recently my family and I ate at Grand Garden. The atmosphere was quiet and comfortable in the dining room. Bathrooms were clean and well stock. Service was great. We were able to feed 2 adults and 2 children for a charge of under 20 dollars not including a tip. Granted one child was no charge because of being so young. We were able to get a buffet for my 4 yr old for only 2.50 that included things like egg rolls, soups, cashew chicken, rice, fresh fruit, pudding, jello, doughnuts, Mongolian beef, and deep fried shrimp. It was nice to be able to get a nutritious meal for my child that did not cost a lot. The staff was very helpful with my children not only bringing us a high chair and booster seat but filling a sippy cup we had with water for our toddler.
The buffet during the week does close at 2 pm so if you want a good selection get there early.
Jasen's Aquatic Svc
Being a brand new family to owning fish we were not prepared for being able to clean the fish tank. I decided to call Jasen's Aquatic Service to see if they sold anything for cleaning a fish tank. Upon talking with Jasen on the phone I learned that they do not sell supplies but instead they come to your home or business and clean your tank. He was able to provide me with the name of a couple of locations that carry the items needed for cleaning my preschool age child's 1 gallon tank.
Jasen's Aquatic Service does not have a store front and is a come to you service and does not sell supplies.
