Good place to have clothing alterations and repairs done. They replaced a zipper in a pair of expensive dress pants for me- left pants there a week- did a fine job. Prices seemed reasonable.
I've been here for lunch twice and like this buffet a lot. They have a very wide selection of tasty appetizers, entrees and desserts, with a variety of different tastes. They even have crispy golden brown Southern fried catfish and fried okra, a nod to Texas I suppose. The Chinese items are well prepared with delicious sauces- they have the recipes down pat. Both occasions I've been at off-peak times, and found that some of the vegetables were limp, while most were just fine. Restaurant is spacious and fairly clean. Staff is very friendly and helpful. If I'm going to eat a Chinese buffet north of George Bush Tollway, this is the one I choose now.
CVS's seem to have taken over the stand-alone drug store market in this area except for an occasional Walgreens. I have tried their CVS brand OTC generic medicines and health products and don't notice much difference from major brands except the price is lower. They have a nice selection of greeting cards- I have always been able to find one appropriate for the occasion.
The Custer McDermott branch is a nice clean bank that is was built about 2007. They took over for the nearby WAMU branch that closed (where I used to have my account) and I was impressed with how seamlessly the transfer went. The second time I went there, one of the bankers told me about their rewards credit card where you get 3% cash back. Since the card I was using only gave back a max of 2%, I jumped at it. It's nice because you can bank online and see your credit card, checking and savings info all on one screen. Great customer service, always polite and never pushy!
Used to live around the corner from here and my buddy would have me stop in here so we could get pizza for lunch, about once a week. Went back last summer while on vacation and it hadn't really changed, still a great place to get some tasty slices!
I used to work in Fort Lee and would go here for lunch frequently with my coworkers. 2 or 3 of us would split a pizza, which was excellent with lots of tasty sauce and a thin foldable crust- I would need lots of napkins because I wouldn't fold mine. However, my favorite was the veal parm hero, they make the best I've had anywhere. Any of their pasta is great because the tomato sauce is so delicious. If you're anywhere close at all, it's worth the trip.
Central Allen location is a very nice branch, with staffed banking open 6 days a week. They always treat me very courteously even though I am a fairly new customer who came over when WAMU was acquired. Teller I had last time was super quick. I use the lobby because the parking is so convenient.
I spent $8 here for a wash (the basic wash is $5) and the car came out amazingly clean for an automated wash. Possibly because they had a 2 guys at the entrance, one with a high pressure hose and the other using a brush to hit some of the really dirty areas. I was impressed.
This QT has a very convenient location at the northwest corner of Stacy and 121. If I'm driving southwest on 121, I always pull in here for gas if I need some. They have the lowest price for gas in the area most of the time (along with the nearby QT on Custer Road). According to my web sources, stations at El Dorado & 121 that are east of 75 sometimes have better prices, but their location is out of my way. Gas here seems to be good quality and runs well in my cars. By the way, stone finish on the columns supporting the gas canopy looks neat and is unique for a gas station.
This QT is located 1/4 mile north of 121 on the east side of Custer, a location which has lots of commuters and residents passing by daily. Perhaps because of this, they consistently have the lowest price for gasoline in the immediate area (about 5% of the time they won't be lowest). I have bought gasoline here many times and have had no problems, although sometimes it is slow to turn south on Custer after fueling due to traffic. Store is not bad for a convenience store.
