Oxford Club
Depending on your technician, your experience will vary, but despite the parking hassles, as someone else noted below, ask for Michael for a massage and you will not regret it! I am very picky and prefer men's stronger hands, but he also gets in there and finds your knots and needs (which is why I've been going to him for about 4-5 years). Love the treatment room ambience too.
Theodore H. Stathos, MD
Dr. Stathos is simply wonderful -- both with kids and their parents. I have taken my daughter to see him for 3 years and he is very knowledgeable, patient, thorough and available, which explains why he is listed among the top Pediatric GI docs in Denver in 5280 Magazine each year.
Dean M. Prina, MD
I can say enough about Partners in Pediatrics and Dean Prina specifically. Both of my kids love him as well as each of the the Drs, PAs, and nurses. Pluses to the practice are that they always have a Dr. or PA on call and to speak with, and they have basic meds (like antibiotics) on hand when needed. They are thorough, caring, and strive to work with parents to find the best approach for the family, whether that be with traditional or alternative/homeopathic care.
Tom's Restaurant
The Tom's Restaurant/diner that is the Tom's of Seinfeld notoriety is on 112th Street & Broadway in Manhattan, in the Columbia University/Morningside Heights area. As someone who grew up on the block, I can assure you that it has great diner fare, great Cheeseburger Deluxes and fries, and awesome "Black & White" milkshakes. You also can't beat Tom's for breakfast deals, which is why it is packed every day with Columbia students and neighbors, well into the wee hours when the students are hitting it at 2AM when the bars close!
All Audi-Vw Parts & Service
While it has been a while since I have been to All Audi, I have recommended it to friends in the past, all of whom have been very happy with the service and savings they have gotten. If Reza is still the owner, insist on talking to him as I have, in more recent past, had a harder time getting a hold of him and always end up with a technician instead.
Hop Kee
An old stand-by that is not as good as it used to be, but still a Chinatown tradition and as others have said, if you know what to get, you will be very, very happy!
Mondel Chocolates
Mondel's remains one of the Morningside Height's oldest neighborhood businesses. Founded in the 1940's by Hungarian-born Carl Mondel, the home-made chocolate store has sinful hand-dipped chocolates, candies, toys, nuts, etc. and is packed on holidays. Try the figaro truffles (or many of the other truffles), the buttercrunch and the orange cups, as well as the holiday chocolate molds (Santas, Easter Bunnies, Turkeys, etc.)
Pearls
For a non-Chinatown restaurant, Pearl's has great food at reasonable prices. It's a neighborhood staple!
