Sherman Oaks, CA
Our veterinarian rushed us to animal ophthalmologist Dr. Silverman when we saw our dog's eye was enlarged. We had been to Complete Animal Eyecare Center about 10 years before with our other dog -- we got very good care then too. Recently, our veterinarian suspected glaucoma with our Golden Retriever, when the pressure of her eye tested greater than normal. One of her eyes was swollen quite large. We found out at Complete Animal Eyecare Center that it was glaucoma. Dr. Silverman did treat the pressure in the eye and successfully brought it down. He let us know surgery was a possible option down the line -- but we could try to treat medically first which was our choice. At no time did he pressure us to do surgery right away which I really admired. The doctor spent a great deal of time with us. He is a kind and understanding doctor who truly loves animals. The staff was warm and efficient. This is a great hospital we would recommend to anyone who has any kind of veterinary eye issue.
Update: August 11, 2010
We went back today to Complete Animal Eyecare. It turns out that though we tried, our animal does have to have an eye removed due to the pain. I respect the ethics of this doctor. It is unusual to meet someone like this.
