I have been to every Bikram studio in town-- and even the "hot" studio-- but Bikram Yoga Summerlin is definitely home for me. The instructors truly care about the students and their practice and go the extra mile with tweaks, compliments, and even working with you after class. It's hard to pick a favorite because they're all great: Kirk has stayed after class to help me on backbends, Toni Jo has pulled out the book to help explain bow to me, Lacey and Kimberly have really pushed me through plateaus and encouraged me when I needed it (and always catch me if I'm not giving it my all), Jason has taken time to dissect my backbends after class, and Noel has given me great explanations to correct how I get into postures and given me new challenges when certain postures become too easy... the list goes on. I have made so much progress here at BYS and it is a great feeling when everyone cares about you and your practice.
My husband and I lived in South Africa; after a year back in the States we were REALLY missing South African food. We had searched high and low and found NOTHING in Las Vegas. On a recent trip to LA, we searched for a South African restaurant since we knew that there was a large South African population. We found Springbok and had a WONDERFUL meal: I got the boerwors roll and he got the braai platter. If you??ve never been to a South African braai, this is the closest that you can get in the US: a giant plate of meat with beer. We??re vegans now for dietary reasons, but we couldn??t help indulging; there is just nothing like South African food. The menu was even authentic, suggesting the best pairings for beer and rugby. Sigh.
I had also struggled to find a South African grocery store, as I learned to cook while we were living in Jo??burg, so I have been unable to make all of my best recipes since we??ve been back. We asked the owner where we could find a South African grocery store; besides giving us a fabulous recommendation, we also got into a great conversation about the country we share a mutual love for, from the food to the music to the society. The owner is from the Durban area and he reminded me what I miss even more than South African food: SOUTH AFRICAN PEOPLE. They are the most welcoming, friendly culture that I have ever encountered and Robin was no exception. After regaling the good old days in SA, he even gave us each a bottle of Mrs. Ball??s! If you??re looking for a lekker meal, the Springbok Bar & Grill is not to be missed.
My husband and I went to Cloud 9 for our anniversary and absolutely loved it! Julie, the facialist, did a great job; my skin was absolutely glowing and felt amazing. In the past, I hadn??t been a big fan of facials because I always felt like I was getting inspected; however, Julie nearly put me to sleep during the facial and completely changed my mind about them. Janet also changed my mind on hot stones massages, doing a completely unique style that felt amazing and got all of the knots out of my body. We had a great time and they scheduled us perfectly to get in at the same time, swap rooms, and then finish with pedicures together.
Sin City VIP has helped me plan all of my nightlife and pool scene needs. They are incredibly organized and helpful. Going to a nightclub with VIP service takes the entire experience to another level. They have helped me to plan many nights to remember! Whether you are visiting Vegas or live here and want to go out in style, I would recommend them to anyone!
Top Hat Car Wash has great prices and does a great job on my car. I love how detail-oriented they are and how friendly their customer service is. Definitely the best in the area!
Erica is the BEST instructor! She really knows how to keep you motivated and help you to push your limits and accomplish more in your practice. She is very knowledgeable about health and fitness as well, and her advice has really complemented my practice. I was hitting a lot of energy plateaus on my diet and was struggling through practice, but she helped me to figure out which foods and supplements would help me. My practice has been SO much better since!
I always have a great time when I go to Xclusive Ultra Lounge. Their bottle prices are the best in town and they give you the *true* VIP experience: you can book one of their private rooms to enjoy drinking with your friends. This unique feature is one that you just don't see at any of the other clubs in town and, for people like me who like their privacy, makes the whole experience SOOO much better. If you DO want to go on the dance floor, there are always cool events going on like Three Six Mafia and Too Short, but their VIP rooms are still my favorite.
