I have dealt with this company for over 15 years and have found then prompt, reliable and courteous, Especially in an emergency, which all of my calls have been: burst pipe, dead boiler, etc.

.

I contracted D.H. Stevens to inspect a reported gas leak at my condo unit. The dispatcher quoted me a rate of $65 for the service call, plus a flat-fee for any necessary repairs. A D.H. Stevens employee flipped a switch to turn gas service back on and performed a "soap check" on my stove. No repairs were made, no equipment removed or installed, and no faulty parts replaced. The serviceman then lingered, and I was charged for a full hour. In all, I was billed $215.00 for the service call.

On its website, D.H. Stevens promises service at "reasonable rates." $215 for a soap test is outrageous. They said a flat-rate would be charged for any necessary repairs (there were none) and then charged me an hourly rate, plus the service call. When I contested the charge, they had the nerve to ask what I did for a living, as if their fees would be reasonable if I had a big enough income. I was cheated and taken advantage of by D.H. Stevens Plumbing. I want others to beware so that they, too, do not suffer the same fate at the hands of D.H. Stevens.
