I took some family who was visiting from out of state to the Hornblower Whale Watching. We had a great time. They enjoyed it very much.

This is a great experience for those who have never sailed on the high seas. They have the short tour that just takes you from S.D.to Coronado or the long tour that takes you to the south bay and back.

Make sure that if you get sea sick that you prepare yourself if you plan to go on this. I took some sea sick pills and that was enough for me, but it may not be for others. The food was good though it was pretty hard to see the whales that were off at a distance.

If you easily get sea sick, I highly recommend that you pass this up. YOU WILL GET SEA SICK. I hardly ever get motion sickness, but once you leave the bay area and get into the ocean, BEWARE! You may not have a good experience. I went with a group of 10 people, and most of us got somewhat sea sick, some worse than others. My poor friend just fell asleep to try to get rid of the sickness, and didn't even get to see any whales! I will never forget the poor old lady sitting on the floor near the trash can with a barf bag held tightly in her fists. When you're in the bay area, you're okay, but once you hit the ocean and those waves, it's rough.

You might be thinking "why not take some motion sickness medication?" We tried that, and I still got slightly sea sick, but not as bad as others. The main side effect of taking those medications is drowsiness, and I did end up falling asleep on a bench. In fact, I would say more than 1/2 of us fell asleep at one point. The sun shining on you is beautiful though! :)

I was hoping to see a bunch of dolphins, but we didn't. We did see maybe 5-6 gray whales, but not all at one time. They're also pretty far away, so you have to really look closely. You can see their tails up from the water, and that is amazing. I would DEFINITELY NOT do this again. Trust me...think twice about it. Just go to Sea World...you get a better view anyway!
