Dr. Clinton refused to see her own patient when having new onset seizures because it was, "too close to closing time"! Dr. Clinton is her regular vet and I told her that my puppy was having seizures that would not stop. Dr. Clinton refused to see her, did not refer her and did not tell me that she needed treatment to stop the seizures. Dr. Clinton just didn't care and wanted me to wait until the next day to get a blood test. After the 25th seizure I rushed my puppy the Phoenix Emergency were she received competent care and she was admitted for IV Valium. I told Dr. Clinton that my puppy was in another hospital and she gave me every excuse imaginable why she didn't see her own patient or even refer her. Dr. Clinton promised to pay some of the emergency bills and said she would call me back after 2 days. I NEVER heard from her again, not even to see how my puppy was doing!! I also left message for Dr. Ferarra to call me back but he ignored me as well! Dr. Clinton is incompetent and could care less about her patients! I do NOT recommend this hospital if you love your animal.

I brought my five cats to Squaw Peak Animal Hospital two weeks ago for the first time on two separate visits. Dr. Ferrera gave them extra special care during their exams. He suggested only services necessary for them. Based on Dr. Ferrera's recommendation, only my second to the youngest cat needed her teeth cleaned. I found the cost for their services to be the most competitive from other established veterinary hospitals. With that being said, excellence in quality and care were my main priorities in seeking a veterinarian. I was very impressed with the ease of our visits. This is the only time I have ever seen my cats be so relaxed and happy after a vet visit. My cat's dental cleaning was the best of all of the cats that I have ever owned. Usually, they need at least a day to recover from a dental cleaning, however, this cat was doing her running leaps the next morning because she felt good. They also assisted me on how to update contact information for my each of my cats' microchips. A few days later, one of my cats ran outside without my noticing (he was found in the yard), just knowing that his microchip information was current reminded me of just how valuable microchips were. Also, as another convenience offered, they carry the top names in prescription food and special ordered my cats' Royal Canin prescription food for me that I used to drive a great distance to pick up. Two nights ago, I discovered blood near my cats' litter box. I called them the following morning (Dr. Ferrera was not in) and Belinda, a staff member, suggested for me to bring in a sample right away, which I did. They were very efficient, accurate as well as compassionate towards me. So, while waiting for the test results, I had peace of mind. The next morning (under 24 hours), Dr. Ferrera called to inform me that the test result was negative. Through the direction of Dr. Ferrera, his hospital exudes an ethic of personal service which sets them apart and, in my opinion, makes them quite unique as a veterinary hospital. My cats are very happy with Dr. Ferrera as their newly found veterinarian.

Do not go here, Doctor Ferrera just killed my chihuahua. She went in for ACL surgery after her knee was injured and he said it would be a simple and quick procedure which would fix her up quickly. We took her in with a clear mind after he assured us the issues that could possibly occur were extremely slim. However our dog ended up not breathing and was revived much too late because she already had brain damage by the time they brought her back. This assshole was not straightforward with us afterwards and lied about the procedure and I have the deepest hole from this loss.

Everyone at Squaw Peak has always been wonderful to our family of collies. We have taken our dogs there for over 20 years and everyone has been great. From just getting shots to emergencies they have always helped my beautiful dogs. They really care about the animals and their owners. When a specialist needs to be called in, they call them. One of my collies had a heart condition and they scheduled a special vet to see him. That helped keep him alive for an extra 6 months.
When it came time for one of my precious dogs to leave this world they were there too. They took great care and understood my dog's needs at the end and mine. What more could you ask of a human, of a vet. My thanks to Mark for running such a great Animal Hospital. I just wish you did horses too!

Dr. Clinton saw our dog for a cut on her back. She told us the wound was healing well on it's own and no treatment was needed. She doesn't run up your bill. She's professional and knows her stuff.

If you've noticed all the earlier and positive reviews are about Dr. Weaver, and he was a very good veterinarian. Dr. Clinton is the worst veterinarian that I have ever witnessed, and I am a pet loving person who has had at least eight pets checked in to Squaw Peak, the other veterinarian there, I believe Dr. Fererro, was a nice and accommodating veterinarian and had diagnosed my sweet little cat correctly after the multiple mistakes that Dr. Clinton, had diagnosed. All in all, because of Dr. Clinton's stupidity and lax of not wanting to get to the bottom of what was wrong with my little kitten, it cost my cat a shorter life.

Please do not get your pet checked form Dr. Clinton if you want your animal for as long as possible.

I started with Mark Weaver in 1979 so that makes us both "older". We started with Buzzer, a feline who lived 23 years. Mark has come to our home numerous times when our large dogs needed to travel on to the next life. I SNR feral cats and the staff is always helpful in a quick turn around time. Mark once did an emergeny c-section on a newly rescued stray cat of mine. They have also come to my home for annual shots ( I have a lot of animals). I always have felt the entire staff is top notch, animal loving people. FYI, Mark's eye are different colors. I wink, too. What's the meaning of a wink? I guess it just depends on the sender/receiver. I also like working with Dr Ferrera. I so appreciate their great care, communication, and compassion.

I just took my 8 month old Cavalier to Dr. Weaver for a well dog visit. He is an exceptional VET, and super caring. He does not over vaccinate, or try to sell you anyhting. Dr. Weaver is by far the BEST doc for your dog.

We have been taking our dogs to Mark Weaver since 1992. He and his staff as well as newer doctor Ferrera, have always been compasiionate and honest. We have even made calls to them after hours or when we are out of state, and have always been able to rely on all of them! Wouldn't go anywhere else!!

Dr. Weaver and his staff have taken care of our animal family members for over 14 years. He cried with us when we put our lab down and has lovingly taken care of our new puppies. I could not recommend a better place for animal veterinary care. I would not even consider taking our pets anywhere else !

I had taken my pet to another well known vet in town - he did unnecessary surgery because he thought he saw cancer cells in his slide and bungled a euthanasia so my dear dog had to have 3 shots - one directly to his heart to end his suffering. In contrast, Dr. Weaver and an assistant came to my home for my sweet German Shep mix and painlessly administered one dose and my girl went to sleep forever - at home in her favorite place. These Dr's. don't over- or under-treat your animals. Dr. Weaver is a winker, but not in a flirting way - he's just trying to put you at ease. He speaks directly to my husband and me and is just the BEST.

I have only used this vet a couple of times for my Maltese to have her spayed. Dr. Weaver took his time in assuring me that everything would be okay as I was quite nervous about having her go under only being 3 1/2 lbs. The surgery went great, he kept me up to date on her progress & the staff was wonderful. The only reason I haven't been back is that I live quite a way away from his office & chose a Vet closer. I am so sorry to hear you had a bad experience. I came back to this site looking for a fax number to get her medical records for a Medical plan I have enrolled her in & saw the comments, so I thought I would leave mine.

We have two great danes and love all of the doctors at Squaw Peak Animal Hospital! One of our danes (adopted from the rescue) had recurring health problems as a puppy and we saw each of the doctors at Squaw Peak regularly. They were always caring, compassionate, helpful, and took the extra time to listen to all of our concerns and address all of our questions. The staff are always courteous and friendly and they ALWAYS find time to fit us in the schedule timely - they even have Saturday appointments. Additionally, when we took our other dane in for surgery, she was very nervous about the operating room and Dr Weaver allowed me to come in and stay with her until the anesthesia kicked in. I very much appreciated the additional care and concern he expressed for her well-being. The office also called me when the surgery was complete so that I could be there when she woke up (as to not shock her with a room full of strangers). The surgery went exceptionally well and her recovery time was amazingly swift - these guys definitely know what they are doing! We currently go to Squaw Peak for all of our vaccinations/checkups/ and the rare illness, and we will continue to be loyal clients.

We have been going here for some time now and have received nothing but the best vet care, we have been through c-sections, emergencies, euthanasia and much more with these guys, you can't beat them! They specialize in large breeds so we bring all six of our mastiffs there plus have referred them to many others who also bring their pets there. I drive an hour and a half to see them, my sister drives all the way from Flagstaff! ALSO, I'm a young woman and have been there alone and with my fiance and NEVER once was either one of them sexist. Sorry you missed out on the best vet office there is in Arizona!

I've been taking my cats to Squaw Peak Animal Hospital for over 9 years and have never had any problems. We've been through ringworm, surgery, infections, boarding, and euthanasia together and I've found all 3 vets to be kind and compassionate. Jennifer at the front desk is wonderful as are the vet techs in the back. Many people in the community respect this place and I wouldn't put much stock in the previous post by scott s.

I absolutely would not recommend bringing your animal to this establishment. After leaving my PUPPY in the hands and care of this so-called animal hospital for a week, she came home with kennel cough and ear infections. To make matters worse, the medication that the doctor prescribed is known for rotting teeth and eating away at stomach lining in animals. After taking my dog to another veterinarian and learning of the poor treatment in which my loved one received, I contacted squaw peak directly to talk about my concerns. Their response was less than compassionate and they offered no explanation nor written communication about the original pet stay.... let alone an apology or refund on treatment needed from their kennels. They did NOT care about my animal or take any accountability in the situation. Apparently in this state of economy they are doing so well with their services that they are okay with losing our business due to MISTREATMENT of animals. This place is horrendous and have proven to care only about $$, not about the animals that come through their door

Over the past 18 years we have had six dogs and are now down to two . Mark Weaver, the "older" vet, and his team are wonderful and I have never found Mark to be sexist (as commented by a previous reviewer). I have never found Mark to be anything but the most professional and knowledgeable when it come to our pets. Through his assistance, one of our dogs lived to be 17 years old after being diagnosed with diabetes at 12. Mark Weaver is smart, kind, and caring. We had occasion to move out of the area to PA and still called Mark for advice. When one of our pups was in distress he gave us his cell phone number so that we could reach him any time of day or night with a problem. He is the best. I??m sorry the other reviewer did not get to know him better??he is the best vet in the Valley!

I recently brought my 9 wk old Dobie to Dr Weaver to get her ears cropped, I was very learly on bringing her to a place I'd never been before (my vet did not do ear cropping) and was referred to by the breeder I bought her from. When I arrived the front desk ladies were very friendly and helpful. Dr Weaver came right in and explained the surgery in detail to me and answered my list of questions, he did not seem to be rushed and was very helpful. He called me as soon as the surgery was over and let me know surgery went great and she's doing fantastic. I picked her up later in the day and Dr Weaver was there again to answer any of our questions we had. I am proud to say I am very pleased w/the results and will start bringing her there and my other 2 dogs to Dr Weaver in the future, it's hard to find a great vet - the drive is sure worth it!!! I highly recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a friendly and helpful vet who takes the extra time to spend w/you and your family. Thank you so much!!

My wife and I moved here from Los Angeles and we were referred to Squaw Peak by the AZ Bulldog Club. Both Dr.'s treat our dogs with love and respect. They are very knowledgable and will spend the extra time answering questions and re-examining the dogs if need be.
We have never had a problem getting an appointment even on the weekends. Our only complaint is that they do not do boarding because we could not think of a better place to leave our dogs while we are out of town!

This vet specializes in large breeds. We took our Newfoundland to him when she had a shoulder problem. My husband and I took her and we saw the older male doctor. The vet spoke to my husband the entire time and would not even look at me. When I asked a question, he addressed my husband with the answer. My husband even noticed so he kept looking at me, but the vet did not catch the hint. It was very odd, mostly because I am the one with the science degree who knew what to ask, who directed the questions, and was paying the bill! At the end of the visit he finally looked at me and gave me a wink...
Sexist with a very expensive bill, will not return even though I am sure he is a fantastic large breed doctor.
