Of all the pizzerias in Tucson, this is my favorite -- I love the meatball pizza best! The inside dining is fun -- has a "color" fountain in the middle. The music takes you into a Classic New York Parlor to eat your pizza pie! Order and pay at the counter, they will call you when your order is ready. Seriously the best pizza in Tucson.
Fun for all! If you do charge for soda refills, maybe reconsider? I have beer or wine with mine! They deliver too!

Of all the pizzerias in Tucson, this one is the cleanest, roomiest, family oriented place. The music is a little loud. The crust a little too thin. The method of yelling on a speaker? Stupid. Pay a kid to run to the table and tell them the order is ready at the counter.

Again, for pizza, overpriced. Unless you are ordering meat, it's not meat. It's cheese, sauce, and bread. In this economy, the cost of going out for PIZZA! should not be considered a fancy restaurant dining out experience. Here, it is. I have no idea what they are doing charging for refills, that went out in 1985. For subfar food, you are better going to Dominos at the door. Wish I could say great, but can't.

If you want to be treated like crap or ignored I suggest you visit Mamas on Oracle Rd. The first time I went I thought maybe they were just so busy they could not acknowlege my presence for a few minutes so I decided to give them another try. Not only do none of the employees EVER smile, they look bored and like your putting them out of their way with anything. I would like to know from management if having a sour puss on your face is a requirement for employment. Also when we were dining in, the entire time some of the employees were running around moving tables but they would stop right where I had to walk thru to get my pizza, otherwise I would have had to get back in line and wait behind others ordering while my pizza got cold. I watched one employee stand in the middle of the aisle watching two others put a table together while a customer who was trying to walk thru was standing there, the employee totally ignoring her. They would set dirty brooms & dustpans right by our table, a lovely sight when Im trying to eat. My pizza was also not cut in half, the slices were not equal, whoever cut it obviously didnt care & was in a hurry. Unfortunatley I dont think management takes their busness seriously enough to care about any complaints like this from customers.

We used to love Mamas, they have always been our staple for pizzas, perhaps for the last 20 years! Im sad to say they have changed for the worse.. There are some great places popping up in town, Zonas in tucson, Angelinas in oro valley and surely more to come. Sorry mamas, i know of at least two others taking your reign!

Cons: poor pizza, SLOW service, terrible ambiance

.

This review is for the East location at Houghton and Broadway.
I ordered my pizza and wings at 5:27 pm and waited until 6:30 to get a undercooked, cold pizza. It was terrible and our family decided not to use Mama's Pizza ever again, even though it's just 5 minutes from our home and very convenient.
This is not the first time I've waited an hour for pizza at this location and not the first time I've gotten a pale, undercooked pizza in which the cheese was barely melted, but cold, just not at the same time. I make a mean pizza myself and with one hour I can make the dough from scratch and have it piping hot and properly cooked, on the table. That's what I'm going to do from now on.
Mama's Pizza has lost our business for good.

first our pizza was burnt. the cook told us that it was fine, i took a bite and all i could taste was burnt. i politely asked for her to remake it.. i hated doing it, but i was really looking foreward to some good pizza. she remade it with a dirty look on her face the whole time. we got it and it wasnt great (so mediocre in fact that i desired ranch to spice it up.. a habit i had worked hard to break after high school) it was a dollar for ranch, and i stood up at the front for at least five minutes while the people in the back just stared at me. finally i got my ranch, we ate the pizza and i was overall unsatisfied. a big slice of cheesecake, with blueberry topping, might be able to salvage this dining experience, i thought. my boyfriend ordered it, forgetting the blueberry. i shouldve just eaten the plain, but i had my heart set on blueberry.. i went up to ask. the guy at the front refilled things and tidied things for about ten minutes never aknowledging the fact that i was there, but obviously seeing me. were they that mad that they burnt my pizza? finally he brings out the cheesecake and hands it to me, i explain that i had wanted it with blueberry topping (i didnt think it would be too difficult to bring it in the back and scoop some topping on it. 'you want me to redo it?' he asked, 'that will be extra.' sure sure, thats fine.. i just want the cheesecake. when it takes him a very long time i begin to suspect foul play and we leave without the cheesecake. terrible service, rude and unaccomodating. they werent even busy. there was one other table occupied. i would not recommend this place ever, to anyone.

KOVA 4 CoachRoach investigation made me sick. I will never eat there again. SHAME ON MAMMA'S PIZZA
I had gone once before and was going to go again. NEVER AGAIN
I am actually outraged, as they are just lazy. It takes no more effort to keep a clean restaurant, verses a disgusting against health code restaurant.

Arriving for a hopefully early dinner (5PM on a weekend), my friend and I were greeted by, . . .well, by no-one. The area by the cash register was vacant, the restaurant had at most 4 or 5 patrons, tables were piled with the remnants of past diners, but there was a pizza-twirler visible in the glass enclosed kitchen, so we knew that Mama's was open for business. After five or so minutes, spent examining the short menu repeatedly and looking pleadingly at the pizza twirler, an order taker appeared, reeking of cigarette smoke. Listening to our request for pizza, his response was that pizza orders would take at least 45 minutes, and did we really want to order pizza? Well, yes, we did, so we ordered a small pizza and a salad to pass the time. This did seem curious, given the lack of customers, and the fact that this was supposed to be a pizza restaurant, but it was our first visit, and our thinking was that perhaps the pizza was made with such care and expertise that it would be worth the wait. After 40 minutes, we noticed that other people who came after us, seemed to be getting pizza, so we inquired as to the status of ours. Oh, we gave that pizza out some time ago, someone else must have taken it. Well, given that my name had not been called, this seem unlikely, and it was more likely that our pizza had simply been overlooked. So we settled in for another long wait for the replacement pizza, beginning to regret our decision to have an early dinner, since by now it's nearly 6. Fortunately the second pizza did arrive, and in only 30 minutes. Unfortunately, though it was very hot and fresh, it was totally unexceptional in any way, nearly flavorless sauce, tasteless crust, and not a pizza that we would have returned for, even had it been delivered in a reasonable time. No, we will not return.

Mama's Pizza is amazing. Not only is it filling, it's huge. Relatively cheap and not too much of a wait either. It really beats what a lot of other Pizza places have to offer. The environment is really relax and fun and the servers are very nice. The quality of their service is just outstanding and it's a fantastic place to eat.

I keep ordering from them because I like supporting local business over chains, and, when they do it right, their pizza is pretty great. I will never order from them again, though, because 5 out of 7 times, the pizza arrives totally cold and looking like it was cooked hours ago. Moreover, general management at the Speedway store has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Don't expect them to lift a finger to make your experience pleasant - they'd rather lose your business. And as a Tucson resident who has never complained about food or service, they've set a new bar for me - I will never go back and plan on contacting the owners.

We have heard Mama's commercials for years so when we were going by on Speedway and noticed it tucked back, we pulled in. First, we were greeted by, well, no one. We went to a counter and were told to take a seat. We did but that had its challenges. Some were not bussed and some were piled high with trays of previously bussed tables.

We looked for a menu and spotted one at an adjacent table but it was greasy so we found another. After waiting for a few minues, we realized that we had to go up to place our order, which we did. One medium pizza, one sandwich and two sodas were over $30.00. To us, that was a lot, considering we had no server.

The pizza was just ok but very large. My son said the sandwich was good and also very large.

The big negative to us was the lack of cleanliness and friendliness. Oh, well, better luck next time. Unfortunately, it will not be at Mama's. Sorry. We are always looking for good pizza.

Mama's make huge pizzas equaling to a huge slice. You have to fold it to put in your mouth. Greasy but good to have once in awhile. The staff is great and friendly.

We ordered Mama's pizza last weekend after reading all the positive reviews. Having just moved here from back east, we were excited to try this citysearch hyped pizza. We ordered a regular cheese pizza for delivery.

It arrived within a reasonable time frame for a Saturday night and was still warm. Still, we were disappointed. It tasted exactly like Papa Gino's Pizza (a pizza chain back east). Nothing special, just average, like a chain pizza restaurant. I *probably* wouldn't order from here again, but who knows, maybe I'll try something else from the menu. The telephone people were very friendly as was the delivery guy.

Anybody ordering their first Family Size Mama's Special will tell you when they picked up their pizza they came away shaking their head in disbelief. I have seen people call for help carrying the pizza. Everything on the menu comes in ample portions. You get a great value at Mama's.

All whole items are prepared fresh immediately to the customer's order. Besides several sizes of pizzas, Mama's offers a slice which is 1/8 of a 24 inch Family Size pizza. The whole pizza is pre-prepared and partially cooked in advance. Depending on the customer's order, specialty toppings are added and cooking is completed, so there is only a short wait for the finished product. The Slice is perfect for a lunch where the customer's time is limited.

Dining in a Mama's restaurant is always a great experience in a pleasant surrounding. No other pizza restaurant can offer what Mama's does.

It's always entertaining watching the first-timers see their first slice of pizza at Mama's. The slices are HUGE!

The pizza itself is good. There are better places out there, but for the portion/price ratio, it'll fillup the most hungiest of person, and leave a smile on their face.

The pizzas are not made to order. They cook a LARGE pizza, and as you order it, they place the toppings you requeste and cook it AGAIN. When the place isn't crowded, you get an old slice. If the place is hopping, you get a fresh slice.

It's recommended if you go with a group, order a large pizza to ensure freshness instead of everyone ordering individual slices. Also, there are several locations in town!

Mama's pizza has the best pizza I have ever had west of Chicago. The family size pizza will fill your whole table, as that is how large it is. The antipasta salad is excellent, but don't order spaghetti, as that is not their strong point. Overall the atmosphere is wonderful and the pizza delicious and filling.
