Bad attitude!

Tried to add some extra veggies to the Tom Ka Kai and pay extra for it and the person on the phone suggested I call another restaurant.

So I did.

I found out about this place when I used to work around the corner. I would get my order and my coworkers would always pester me to get them something. That's how good this place is. Cheap and good. I recommend the garlic chicken but be warned the garlic will invade your soul.

Pros: pad se ew , good prices, portions

Cons: DONT TAKE CREDIT CARD, WHY??!?!?!?!?! plus no parking

Tips house is pretty good thai food, its not the best in town, but you get a lot for your money. There is only one waitress and she hustles. You can go in there one time and she will remember your order the next time you want to go in. I personally like the garlic chicken and the BBQ thai chicken is good too.

A vegetarian and lover of Thai food, I went with some friends to this place I've heard so much about. The only vegetarian options were an egg roll or some rice. They refused to make Pad Thai without oyster sauce because "they couldn't do it"; or Pad See Ew without egg because "it would stick to the pan"...I volunteered to wash the pan but I was told, no, they were too busy. TIP'S would rather lose a customer and potential business than accomodate their customers.

Pros: Good white rice

Cons: No vegetarian cuisine, Not accomodating, No Diet Coke

need i say more, this place shells out a mean lunch for 5-6 bucks, can't beat it. One of the few Thai places that does'nt skimp on portions and offers great service. Try the pananng beef, or the bbq chicken, all good for next to nothing. Can't go wrong, i bring the out of town clan there all the time, and if your good you'll get a spanish/ english fortune cookie too! , Por Supuesto - I think the rating is off, should be HIGHER!! i give it a 9.8!

Every Thursday my co-workers and I have lunch pick-up from Tip's. It's a small place and not fancy. Looking at it you would think they were one of those slop-serving fast food joints. On the contrary, the food is good (cooked right, good ingredients and clean) but they still manage to make it fast and cheap (average meal is about $6) - ample helpings too. I don't like most of the places around Koreatown - this is an exception. Give it a try.

This place a is a hole in the wall that serve's "Great Tasting Thai Food". Its really known around town and if you have not been here.... You are missing out! Its not a big place but you can take out and enjoy it anywhere you go. The Thai lady is so sweet, she reminds me of a thai ice tea,.

Tip's is great little hole in the wall. A nice little Thai restaurant with entirely reasonable lunch prices. Expect to pay anywhere from $4.50-$6 for a good meal.

Pros: Garlic chicken, Excellent food

Cons: Hard to find, Parking

When you go, make sure to try the 5A (House Combination Fried Rice). A fully loaded plate of fried rice with chicken, beef, pork AND shrimp. If you get it to go it weighs about 2 lbs! Absolutely terrific. The service is always polite and helpful, but can be a bit terse as the place is often busy and I've only seen one waitress and she also runs the register. Other favorites to check out, Spicy Garlic Chicken and Chicken Satay. All are great.

Tip's is a little non-descript Thai place that's a favorite with the business lunch crowd. Regulars don't need to order; the one gal who runs the place remembers exactly what you like and how you like it. I recomment Spicy Garlic Chicken. It comes with a little salad, and eggroll and a healthy portion of rice. They probably use several cloves of garlic in the recipe, but it's yummy. The decor is nothing to write home about, but the food and price make up for it. #9-Medium-Raspberry Iced Tea. That's my favorite combination.

Go early to avoid the lunch rush.

Pros: Great Tasty Food, Good Value

I work in the area and was introduced to this place by co-workers.
The place itself is quite humble looking but the food and service is excellent.
I'm now addictive to the Garlic Chicken which comes either mild or spicy.
They also serve up some tasty fried rices. If you like it spicy, try the Spicy fried rice which also has a smoky-like flavor to it. I've caught myself driving to this place on my day off to eat more! Definitely worth the time and drive.

I am in utter shock! Have the 7 vials been poured? Surely, we must be in the end times if a place as atrocious as Tip's is rated so highly! Surely I wish no ill will to this family owned restaurant. I'm glad they are satisfying their customers with subpar culinary offerings. I however consider , the spicy garlic chicken bad enough to scare away dracula and his third cousin brakkah. Obiviously, patrons common sense followed suit. For 5 dollars they will serve to you some bland chicken and lumpy dry rice that wouldn't satisfy Calista Flockhart. I left the place as bewildered as Starr Jones' husband on their honeymoon. Why did I just pay $6 for a portion so skimpy? I journeyed onward sighing a distress signal high in the sky for Chef Boyardee to finish the task. Here's a tip. Want quality & quanity? Go elsewhere.

If you are looking for a good lunch at a great price and you have a taste for Thai then cruis over to tips. The Chicken Sate is delicious and only about $5. The lunch specials include 2 helpings of rice...one fried, one white. A small egg roll with tasty dipping sauce. A cabbage salad and these yummy pickles.
They also make an excellent Thai Iced Tea.

I go to Tips for lunch at least once a week. The food is tasty and the service is quick but best of all is their prices. You can get a great meal for around $5 to $6 bucks and in LA thats a great deal.

This place offers great service and good Thai food. I recommend any of the lunch specials but especially enjoy the Mint Chili Chicken. Go for the mild unless you like super spicy.

What I can I say more? The bottom line for most restaurants is "taste comes first" right? Service and accomodations add flavors to the overall experience. But Tip's house has good taste food, good service (just from one iron lady), and the dedication to promote good, clean quality food. The cooks and the crew are amazing people. Just three words "Oh Yeah Baby!" or "Spicy Garlic Chicken!"

The best Teriyaki Chicken ever. The chicken was so tender, and very flavorful. I would compare the chicken here to Versailles's Garlic Chicken. For under $5 you can get a very filling, very tasty lunch. Service is fast, and good. A grade joint with A grade food.

This is one of those small, hole-in-the-wall type places that you'd never know was there unless someone specifically pointed it out. But as we all know, those types of places are often some of the best.

The food here is really good. There is a definite addiction factor with this place.

The prices are great and the service is fast.

It's easy to miss this place, wedged between a couple of anonymous storefronts, just west of Western, but this is a great neighborhood restaurant. The food is freshly prepared, and nicely spiced. They will substitute tofu for meat, too. Standbys like Pad Thai are good, but try the ginger with beef, the yellow curry and the spicy mint chicken (available as a cheap lunch special).

Make the waitress laugh, ask for Tip. That guy is just never around when you need him...

The first time I went here, the one and only waitress seemed overwhelmed and I remember thinking to myself - they need to hire some more help. Of course everytime I went back, I realized that is just the way it is and she does not seem to mind. She is like a whirling dervish who seems to handle the rushes with little effort. The first two times I went there I ordered the Spicy Garlic Chicken (RECOMMENDED) and the third visit she came up to me and asked if I would like the usual "Spicy Garlic Chicken"? Needless to say, I was impressed.

This small restaurant features is a one-woman show. She runs the whole place with amazing precision--you'd think she had a big team of workers! The lunch specials they offer are amazing. Tons of delicious food for $5.50! It doesn't get better than that!

I'd hate to see this well kept secret get out to too many ... there aren't that many tables to begin with. The Spicey Garlic Chicken is my favorite, and those I've gone with have loved the Spicey Mint Chicken and the Sweet & Sour Chicken.

The lunch specials are a great deal - most are $4.50. That includes two types of rice mounds, the entree, a cole slaw type salad and an egg roll. All are delicious.

Go as close to noon as possible -- it can get crowded later.
