Hiring Peterman Heating & Cooling was by far my biggest mistake in remodeling my home. They installed an air conditioning unit to an existing system.
The lineset had to be run through the attic. The installers stepped through my ceiling, not once, but twice.
I was told by the estimator that they would do a clean install with no lineset showing from the outside. The installer had no idea what I was talking about, when I complained about the giant globs of silicone smeared around and dripping down from where the lineset exited the attic. He said, "it looks great to me". I complained to his boss before he left, and he was VERY disgruntled to have to fabricate a cover to hide the lineset, even though it was quoted in the job.
The installers also took it upon themselves to change the size of my filterbox, even though I had a years worth of custom air filters for the original. This change was never discussed or agreed to. The installer was more disgruntled when I called his boss AGAIN, his shortcut was reversed after much complaining on my part.
If all the previous problems weren't enough, the following summer, my unit was not producing cold air. I had to have it recharged, there is a leak so small, it is undetectable with modern equipment, and my only recourse is a yearly charging, or install a new lineset.
Of course this type of leak was not noticeable in the warranty period, and the Peterman Heating & Cooling Co. left me steaming mad and flat broke.

The Peterman staff is very friendly and reliable. I called late last week because my ac went out and they had someone there that day. The technician was very presentable and professional. He found the problem and explained my options for the repair. I am happy I chose Peterman as my hvac contractor. They earned my trust during the entire process.

*I am not one to post a bad review unless it is earned. I think that it is equally important to post positive comments if a company provides excellent customer service.*

Peterman was contracted by the previous owner of my home to perform routine maintenance and replace the furnace filter. Many months later I realized that the filter installed was vastly undersized and allowed dust and other particles into my furnace, duct work, and home. I spoke with their Service Manager Derek today. Derek stated that due to the elapsed time since the service was provided, Peterman would not do anything to fix my problem. In addition, their paperwork showed that the correct filter was installed, therefore it must have been me that installed the filter that was way too small. I was also told that if I had noticed this within 60 days of the service they could have helped me. I guess I assumed that the correct filter had been installed and there was no need to check their work. I admit that I went far too long without replacing the filter (seriously, shame on me), but that still does not change the fact that the work was performed incorrectly. They may have won plenty of service awards, but those are for past service and do not guarantee good customer service today.

SIDENOTE: The much smaller furnace filter that I supposedly installed is branded INDIGO. I have not been able to locate this brand at any of the large home improvement stores: Menards, Lowes, or Home Depot. My guess is that Peterman stocks Indigo furnace filters, specifically 16x20x1.

This is in response to AustinSteve at Citysearch. I apologize for your experience with our company. We try very hard to help everyone and sometimes we do fail. Although the particulars I do not recall, we have implemented new changes in the way we carry out our "rainy day" procedures to help ensure that every customer is taken care of. Once again, we are sorry that you had a bad experience and would love the opportunity to make it up to you.
Have a great day and we look forward to working with you again!
Sincerely,
Derek Kean

Joe Morgan , is a very knowledgeable tech. Joe answered all of my questions and I had a lot of them. He gave me what I though was good advice about my A.C. and took the time to explain things to me. Joe had our house cooling in no time. THANKS JOE MORGAN & PETERMAN HEATING & COOLING.

This place was by far and away the WORST heating and cooling place I've used. I just moved and decided to use them because the previous owner had. BIG MISTAKE. I was on a yearly contract with them and when my AC quit working, I called early Monday morning and was told I'd have to wait until Friday because they were ""backed up because of the rain?!"".. It was only a light sprinkle, and 5 Days? I have a 3 week old baby!!! Since I'd already paid my contract there was nothing I can do. I wait until Friday. My wife stays home with the baby and was expecting them. After my business meetings I see the called my cell phone to say they were coming (voicemail).... The problem? They NEVER showed. When I called to ask they outright lied and said they tried knocking which in my 1000sf condo you CAN NOT miss hearing them. Outright lies. The next available appointment date??? Monday! Thats right... 7days to get services for a contract customer! Yet their advertisements say 24hrs 7days a week. \n\nThere are FAR cheaper HVAC companies who are friendlier and more prompt Dont schedule with these people only to have them waste your time and not show up... Unless youd like to wait a week for service to see if theyll show. \n

When my A/C went out this summer I stopped in because they were near my house. Two hours later they were there, diagnosed the problem down to the part, had the part in stock, and I was back up and running 30 minutes later. They also couldn't be nicer. As far as my experience went, I couldn't be happier and there is no other place I would call.

Message from Peterman Heating, Cooling & Plumbing Inc.

Peterman Heating, Cooling and Plumbing, Inc. was started in 1986 by Pete Peterman. A native of Beech Grove, Pete decided after 3 years working for someone else in the heating industry, it was time to go out on his own. With Pete s wife Beth pregnant with their first child (Chad), this was not the most popular decision in the Peterman household, but one that would forever change the lives of this young family.

If there is one thing Pete knew he would have to do out on his own, it was go over and above to make sure his customers were satisfied. Over the past 30 years, this has been the driving force behind the company and its continued growth. At, Peterman it is our goal each and every day to provide the best possible customer service experience. Whether you have an issue with your heating system, a fault water heater, or main line sewer stoppage, each employee at Peterman is guaranteed to give each customer an experience they will not soon forget.
