there should be laws against this type of rundown motel operating as a place to sleep! How can the state of N.Y. even allow these foreigners to run such a filthy place as a business?
I will be writng my next comment to the N.Y. States Atty.
There has to be laws on the books to prevent families from having vacations ruined by filth and bed bugs etc.

that you can leave with a new appreciation for EconoLodge. I just stayed at Anchorage last week w/ a group of 25 bicyclists. The tour leader had been there a few months ago to check the place out and the management showed her one of their recently renovated rooms. Based on that, she booked the place for our group. Management didn't tell her that only the front 8 rooms were renovated -- the other 50 or so rooms are at least 30-years-old. Despite the "No Smoking" signs on the doors, the rooms REEK of many years of cigarette smoke imbedded in the ancient shag carpet. There are burn holes in the blankets (no bedspreads on the beds, just sheets and blankets with burns). Had to change rooms 3 times, they all reeked. It was so bad, our whole group went out to dinner, then walked and walked around the town just wasting time because we wanted to stay away from the rooms as long as possible. When we did return around 9 pm, we discovered that the A/C in our room didn't work, so we opened the windows. (Just didn't even want to deal with management again at this point, just couldn't check out fast enough.) That night, they put a group of truckers in the rooms next to ours, and THEY stood outside and smoked, their smoke wafted into our room and we had to shut the window. It was at least 80 degrees out with no A/C and no ventilation. I cannot believe that the management, knowing full well that this was a group of multi-day cyclists (read: health-conscious people) was crooked enough to book us without fully disclosing the conditions to our tour leader. Unfortunately, there are only two motels in town, and the other one didn't look any better than this. It's a very depressed area. We won't be doing this bike trip again solely because there is no other lodging in the area.

Bottom line: Anchorage is a disgusting pit -- unless you are a chain smoker, you'll want to stay far away.

Would prefer to give this place negative stars!

The best part of this hotel, if you get the right room, is the view to Lake Champlain. The hotel itself does have an old feel to it and could use a lot of updating. The location isn't that great either since there isn't much to do at all in the Rouses Point area. Prices were cheap but I would not return.

The staff was friendly and helpful. Price was very reasonable. There was no view from the room. My biggest problem was the smell in the room. We got use to it after a while. You get what you pay for.....

While the decor and bathrooms could use an update, overall this hotel was really great. The price was good, the amount of room (save the bathroom) was excellent and the location is beautiful, right on the lake.
