Ever since I was a kid I loved the Disney Store. My parents could not get me out of there. I rememver trying on Snow White's Dress and not wanting to take it off but I had too and then for my birthday I got it. Dreams do come true. They have everything from cels, coins, stuffed animals, merchadising for the different movies. It is just the Happiest Place on Earth when you are in Glendale
PROS: A true paradise for kids
They are not open all year round. I don' t know the reasoning for that, it seems like it is a waste of rent paid. They carry all kinds of things at different times. I think that they buy closeouts and then distribute them to all of their stores. A lot of the stuff is too foo foo for me. I have gotten a few good deals there for Christmas Presents. They do have a clearance shelve, but look over what you are getting carefully. They do have cute things for the house there, just not my taste.
I have gotten a lot of good things at St. Annes, everything from clothing to furniture. I got this funky old footlocker for $20 there. I sanded it down and restained it and gave it to my boyfriend as a present. He was totally speechless when he saw it. I must say I did a good job on it. If I would have bought this footlocker on Melrose in West Hollywood I would have paid over $100 for it. I have also gotten clothes here. It seems like companies that have an overstock of clothing give brand new clothes here which is a great deal.
PROS: Real Real Real Reasonable
My mom had a thing for London Fog, I don't know what it was but she loved them and passed that onto me. I am not lying, there are probably 4 or 5 London Fog items of clothing in this house now. I have Ski Bibs and jackets just like my mom. The outlet is a good place to go right after the ski season is over and you will get a better deal. Sometime's Sam's Club has carried London Fog and I have gotten it there, but the outlet is a pretty good place.
PROS: Warm and Cozy clothes
I went in there because I needed to get 6 matching shirts for a musical performance we were doing for a senior citizens center. The salesman at the store was very rude, I don't know if it was because I was a woman in a man's clothing store or he thought that I didn't have the money to get what I wanted. The first thing I looked at was way too much for what we were getting. I asked for something that they had 6 of that was less money and that is when his attitude showed up. You can get the brand name stuff they sell there at Macy's or Robinson's May on sale for less then what they are selling it for at there outlet prices.
CONS: No bargains
They have high quality clothing and accessories there. When they have a sale and you have coupons you can do real well. Also, if you buy something and then it goes on sale within the next 30 days, they give you back the difference. I am hoping that if they are bought out by Macy's and Bloomies that they do not get rid of Robinson's May. I do miss the little mall that use to be there before the earthquake.
PROS: My first credit card is from here
CONS: The thought of them changing store names
I go there if I need to run in and get something fast. Their prices are not as good as Walmarts but they are closer to me. One thing that I dislike is that they raise their prices before they have a sale. If you take off the price sticker you will see the lower price below it. The lines are always long there too and I hate when you go someplace and they do not understand English, that has happened to me there. But it is close and I go there if I have no time for anyplace else.
CONS: No enough cahsiers
Every morning between 8am and 10am they have a deal for a cheaper car wash. Other car washes have it only 2 days a week and here it is 5 days a week. They do a good job, if my car is real dirty they put it through twice plus have someone hand wash it down. They do change ownerships alot, but the service has always been good here. They have also a small inventory of cards to buy and stuff for your car plus cold drinks.
PROS: They take other peoples coupons
I have not been there in over a year, but I use to go all the time. On Thursday nightes I forget the reason, but we got in at a discounted rate, I think it was because my mom had belonged to a ski club or something. I use to be an avid skater and hated when a rink was too busy, I would figure out the best time to go when there would be less people there and go. They kept my blades sharp (I think it was $10) and had good instruction. If I had more time this is where I would go ice skating, but it is a drive and my time is limited.
PROS: Great Ice
When my mom was attending a private college that was around the corner from Shatto Lanes, she would drop me and a friend off and we would bowl there. They were good lanes, did pretty good there. Their prices were more reasonable then the lanes where I was use to going to. I have my own shoes and ballso I have no idea how theirs are. The people who work there are friendly and you get to become like a regular so they started holding a lane for us knowing we were coming. Nice place.
PROS: Good Variety of people
