The Armory is a Pasadena arts institution. They have a beautiful multi-million dollar facility in the heart of Old Pasadena. In addition to numerious programs for and featuring professional artists, they have outstanding youth programs. There's always something interesting happening now, or soon.
We use Western Exterminator Company for regular pesticide service on our home in Los Angles (they cover a vast service area). I live in a heavily-wooded community (lots of bugs!) and we've been insect-free since we started getting the monthly service. This is a hassle-free service and the price is reasonable.
We bought our first home in the seemingly impenetrable L.A. market. Tracy patiently guided us through the entire process on and off for almost 2 years via multiple offers and rejections. Along the way, she gave us the confidence that we'd find what we wanted and never once pressured or rushed us. When we're ready to sell and move-on, we'll be calling Tracy.
I never regret my yearly trip to Larry's office. I watch all my friends go through stress during tax season, procrastinating until the last possible minute. I make my appointment in February and spend a couple hours getting my receipts and w-2s together. After 60 minutes in Mr. Kemp's office, I know what my return will be and am confident everything is properly reported. Two weeks later, the return check is direct deposited into my bank account. It's almost...fun.
The Ice House is on par with the best stand-up comedy clubs in L.A. There's the usual two-drink minimum, but it's pretty easy to get special offers that greatly reduce the cover price. On multiple visits, I've found the comedians consistently entertaining and the content ranges from silly to intelligent humor.
I stayed here during a wedding weekend. This hotel is perfectly located for access to events downtown. It has a spacious lobby, bright, clean rooms and the staff was extremely attentive. No complaints! Tip: it's adjacent to a large mall with food court.
We contracted Alpha Structural to shore up the foundation of our newly purchased, hillside home. David and his team at Alpha did an excellent job. In particular, they did a great job of communicating exactly what the job required and kept my wife and I updated on the progress. Highly recommended!
I regularly find myself at this conveniently located Illuminations in Old Pasadena. This small, dimly lit store keeps it simple: they sell candles and things to put your candles in. They're a little pricey, but they often have specials and you're sure to find that moderately-priced, but classy, gift you're looking for. Note: for poolside and patio, they have a great selection of outdoor lanterns.
In this tiny, tiny theatre you'll find some of Chicago's best acting. There aren't many seats and only a few lighting instruments, but the performances match anything you'd see on Chicago's big stages. Word of Warning: their choice of plays is generally for mature audiences. Go to this theatre to be challenged, not for light entertainment.
A trip to Chicago without seeing a play at the Steppenwolf is like going to New York or London without seeing a play. This is one the most important theatre companies in America. Founded in the 70s by a bunch of unknowns who later became film and television stars. The ensemble includes such names as Gary Sinise, John Malkovich, Laurie Metcalf, John Mahoney and Joan Allen.
