The best thrift store in the entire metro area. This place gets donations that still have price tags on them from shops like Nieman Marcus, Saks, Ann Taylor, etc.. Their donation source appears to be quite elite and either very generous or very fickle. Even the home decor and furniture I have seen for sale is in excellent condition. PRICES ARE SO REASONABLE. If you are ever looking for the perfect Prom Dress or Holiday Outfit for a minimal budget you should make the drive. Call first though as hours & days of operation are minimal, especially during the Summer months.
PROS: GREAT PRICES FOR QUALITY PRODUCTS
CONS: Geographically Undesirable for East Valley & SW Valley Residents
This building is setup very nicely for wedding receptions or any large group functions. The wedding reception area that can be rented is managed by the catering company and I do believe you have to use their catering service.
From all I have seen the use of these facilities is quite affordable as well. Geographic location is good as it is 3 blocks east of State Route 51 between Greenway and Thunderbird
This neighborhood lounge has a shuffleboard table in the center of the bar and it often times becomes the focal point, especially on a shuffleboard tournament day. First Saturday of each month is Tournament day. The tournaments are blind draw for your partner and single elimination. They draw a diverse crowd of all ages. I have seen players as young as 22 and as old as 96 and everyone is enjoying themselves. Call for tournament information & times.
This neighborhood restaurant has some FABULOUS FOOD, but the very best is their White Pizza. Rose & Family have been in business since sometime in the 1980's and the neighborhood improved because of them.
They are located on the NE corner of 32nd St. and Thunderbird Road next door to Jiffy Lube. Check them out and you'll be glad you did.
If you are looking for something that you would typically find in the papers classified section, be sure to log onto Craig's List. Chances are their will be a listing for something you are looking for. The list is divided into various categories, one of them being large metro areas, then they have everything from free dirt & moving boxes to real estate for rent and/or for sale. You might just find yourself a GREAT BARGAIN!
PROS: Great Classified Advertising Source
CONS: Have to do some leg work to determine feasibility of purchasing
If you are looking for an alternative to the typical public school high school education, you should definitely look into this as an option. They take a no-nonsense approach to education and it works. If you're child is bored with school and/or misunderstood by administration and teachers, this might be the solution you have been looking for.
PROS: Smaller classes, more one-on-one Teaching
Carolina's of 12th Street & Mohave has finally expanded and those of us in the North Valley don't have to drive so far for their wonderful homemade tortillas. They have a full menu at this location, however, all I have ever ordered are the tortillas by the dozen and a beef burrito or two.
Carolinas is just east of the Dennys' on the North side of Cactus and just east of Cave Creek Road.
If you are looking for a daycare that will keep your child busy and happy, check this out. They have a rain forest, they have a rock climbing wall, they have a library, they have a recording studio, they have their own train that the kids get to ride once weekly. They bring gymnastics class to each classroom once per week and BEST of ALL..... THE STAFF AND CARE GIVERS ARE THE BEST.
Look no further, this is the place for daycare.

PROS: Discover a well kept secret
CONS: Geographically unfeasible for some metor residents
J & K is a new surprise each time you visit. Since they sell new as well as used you never know what you're going to find when you arrive. THey have a lot of rustic furniture pieces from Mexico as well as the sleek contemporary look. If you want ecclectic, you should definitely make a trip to their showroom.
Be prepared for walking the entire store if you want to see it all as there is no true organization to placement of goods.
PROS: Great variety at good prices.
CONS: Very cluttered and unorganized.
