The carpeting in my home was going to be cleaned. It takes approx. 6 hrs. to dry. I had to be out and I had a little dog with me. The best place was Shilo Inn. The overnight rate was reasonable, the dog was accepted and the AC was adequate. (It was 99 degrees.) I would love to see them change the styrofoam cups to regular glasses. Otherwise, they offer a welcome harbor for the night.
PROS: Frig., Microwave, Ironing board amenities in room
CONS: Styrofoam cups
Upon retirement, I spent 3 to 4 months with memos back and forth (from another state) arranging all minute details for my requirements in an apartment. Spyglass representatives assured me that I would receive all amenities. I purposely arrived 2 days earlier than the truck hauling my furniture and auto. I wanted to be able to show exactly where the furniture would be put and to finish any paperwork. On Friday, I called. Sat. I called. Sun. I called. No response. Monday, the day the furniture was to arrive, I received a call and the person did not know what it was about. On arriving at the office, she had no keys for me. She even inquired if I had the keys! I had been promised an "enclosed" patio. There was a 2x4 concrete slab, nothing enclosed for my pet. That is just an example of false advertisement and unsubstantiated promises. I was able to leave without anyone contesting the lease. I ended up spending twice my transportation allotment after looking for another place to move and, at last, finding it. I consider this apartment's staff, at the time, to have been unorganized, unprincipled and unrepentent. Beware the Renter.
I was recommended to this auto repair shop and since it's a cliche that "mechanics cannot be trusted" I was happy to have the reference which proved invaluable. Ken's shop is a small garage with about 4 mechanics. I received honest appraisal, quick labor and homespun graciousness. There were no frills. I was able to be picked up and driven back (which meant a lot to me). The price was right!
Here's a very nice, if costly, display of beautiful plants and flowers. The merchandise shop is plentiful. The shame of it is the staff and attitude. My incident: I visited this establishment 3 times. I brought my 6 lb. Yorkie w/me each time. I spent over $500 last summer and was planning to return. The last visit, a staff member, yelled at me to "get that dog out of here!" I was surprised, and said, "I'd had him here twice before without incident." She yelled at me again as she was crossing toward me. And, along with her was a feral cat racing toward my dog. I whipped my dog in my arms and the cat attacked my ankle. There was no apology. I put my dog in the car, finished my business with another associate. I was shown a 3x5 handwritten note on the fence re dogs (which had evidentally just been put up and was not visible.) I found they had recently found the stray cat and intended to keep it.
More important the cat than the customer. I would not go back. I can find pretty plants elsewhere. What a shame.
PROS: Good quality plants
CONS: Bad attitude
My initial introduction to the staff was pleasant and informative. They are unique in that each pet is perceived with personal and customized consideration. Jessie, my Yorkie's groomer, took in every detail with an experienced eye. She schedules exclusive appointments for one pet at a time. You can pick up your pet within 1 to 2 hrs. One feels they are entering a salon instead of a factory. Of course, this exclusivity involves a higher price but it is well worth it.
PROS: Security in dealing with a Pro; Good atmosphere for Pet
CONS: Boutique products could be upgraded
