This is a great place for teenagers to come on Fridays and Saturdays. They have bowling and pool tables to learn how to play, which I actually enjoyed more than the bowling lanes. They have a lot of tables to sit, order drinks and snacks, and laugh and talk. It's a warm, friendly environment with a lot of great people - I actually met my boyfriend here, which adds to the fond memories. It's clean, but doesn't prohibit smoking, which is its downfall. I hate coming home smelling like cigarettes.
This is a really great place for all around fun. They have go karts and they give you a really long time on the track, with only ten people on it to avoid accidents, collisions, and a congested track. It's fun to race your friends and see who comes out on top! The putt putt courses are challenging, with bumps and twists threatening to make you lose your shot! I haven't tried the bumper boats, but my friends swear by them.
The bright-eyed veterinarians stay at Alexandria 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, knowing your pet could become suddenly ill at any time. They take instant care as soon as you bring your pet in and have all the equipment, medications, and shots on hand to make a diagnosis and take action quickly to save your pet. They're quick, yet very precise and skilled, to help your pets. They took such good care of my dog when she needed emergency service.
This is a good Christian bookstore to learn more about your faith and have accessories. They sell holy water, beautiful crosses (I paid $60 for a really nice one), Bibles, and books on religion by famous authors, such as Johnathon Edwards. My bookshelf has actually become full since discovering it; I've bought so much that I'm going to need an extra bookcase to hold them!
They have a lot of great airplanes here, fully-constructed! There's everything from planes with single engines, designed for one or two people maximum, to large commercial flights you can tour the guts of. It talks about the history of aviation, from the first flight, to some of the most powerful air crafts in existance. You don't even have to be a fan of airplanes to enjoy it - it's cool for everyone.
This is a really neat museum that shows all of the spy equipment used throughout history (for intercepting codes in wars, to casual uses). It is hands-on, with a lot of neat computer software to try out. The gift shop sells small spy tools for personal use and a lot of books on the subject matter, which I was inclined to buy one of, and really enjoyed reading it! Their movies are interesting and not in a boring, monotone voice - it really is a great place, with tunnels to go through and a lot of fascinating things to learn. It is quite popular, and gets crowded, so beat the crowds and get there early!!!
City Sports is a store that was greeted with a warm welcome by DC residents. Prior to its opening, you had to travel some nice distances to find a good sporting good store. Now, they're serving the entire District. They have equipment for every sport imaginable. On my last visit, I picked up: a tube of racquetballs, a red t-shirt, new wheels for my rollerblades, and a Nalgene waterbottle. As you can tell, their collection is immense. If you need sporting goods, City Sport truly has it all!
Georgetown Running was recommended to me when I needed an insert for my shoes. I found a lot more when I came here; a store stocked with running shoes in different styles and colors, all promising comfort and an extra bounce in your step. The shoes and accessories are all designed with the runner in mind - it's been scientifically studied how the foot lands and what gear can be used to protect every area of the foot. They carry everything and are so friendly and willing to help you find the right shoe for you.
This is an upper-class hair salon, which runs on the more expensive side, but the quality of the work is worth it. Their hair stylists are up-to-date with the current trends and fashions in hair styles and will give you a modern look custom to your facial features and preferences. They use sweet-smelling shampoo, conditioner, and balms that leave my hair so soft and shiny; you can also purchase these products for at-home use. This is a great salon; I wouldn't even think about going elsewhere!
