I hit the big 3-0 about 3 years ago, and recently found it necessary to get my hair colored (darned gray!).
I pass Elle Salon on my way home from work and as it is in a pretty convenient, I decided to make an appointment to take the color plunge.
My appointment was with Casi, on a Friday afternoon. The whole process took about 2 hours (my hair is very long, and I got a trim as well), and was very relaxing. All of the staff were quite friendly, and Casi was thorough and sweet. I have my second appointment later on this week.
I have had a chance to use Phil's Plumbing twice before, for a couple of minor issues (my toddler flushing wipes down the toilet, that kind of thing).
It was when we had a slab leak under the kitchen that they really let their star shine. I had called a different company out (don't ask) to provide an initial estimate. Well, after some shady business, double-talk, and frankly highway robbery on their part (and this was the initial estimate, folks) I remembered Phil's and gave them a call.
To make a long story short: they re-routed the pipes and even fixed the pipes behind my washer - all for a reasonable price and prompt, courteous, excellent service. I cannot recommend them enough.
My son is 2.5 years old, and got his first haircut at the age of 6 months. His second haircut was at 8 months, and it was here at Cool Cuts 4 Kids, with Jessica. We haven't been to another place for him since then.
The staff is friendly, professional, and perfect with kids. My son loves their special chairs (for the younger ones - his favorite is the fire truck with the bell), the fact that he can watch video while his hair is being cut, and their Thomas the Train table in the waiting room.
There are plenty of magazines for parents, and the hair stylists are patient and let you stand over them while they cut your child's hair.
I usually make an appointment (same day - in the morning), and in those instances have never had to wait. I sign in, and they get right to work. I had to wait once, and it was about 20 minutes (this was on a fairly busy day).
Jessica usually cuts my son's hair. She is sweet, patient, and does a great job. The other staff are great as well.
PROS: Kid-friendly. Great service. Great staff.
If someone can recommend to me a handyman business that does not act like I am putting them out when I call them to help me with those small jobs around my house (i.e.: fixing my towel rack and my backyard fence), then I will jump for absolute joy and nominate that person for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Case in point: The Amazing Handyman (complete with their own misleading web site) located in Huntington Beach. After some positive initial phone calls to their home office, the appointment was set for 10/05/05 to repair my fence and they would even throw in my towel rack (God forbid, they should come out for something as menial as a towel-rack problem) as well.
10/05/05: Their two reps showed up about five hours late ("We are running behind", they explained after I called their office), and quickly repaired the back fence and the towel rack (about 30 minutes total-pretty fast), took my credit card information, left me a nifty invoice/receipt and proceeded to leave the incredible mess that they made in the backyard and in the bathroom. Nothing I love better than cleaning up after you after I paid you $400.
Fast forward to 12/07/05: The fence is holding up fine. The towel rack has completely fallen out of the wall. I call office-there are some brief conversations that end with their pleasant rep saying that they will be out on Saturday, 12/10/05 between 9-11 AM.
Fast forward to 12/11/05, 330 PM: no sign of any of the Amazing Handymen - no call - I called their office to inquire at about 12 PM and was told "We are running behind" (see above this seems to be a recurring problem) and that the falling towel rack may be due to a "dry wall problem". Um, okay. After my phone call, I did not hear from them: neither hide nor hair.
Amazing Handyman? Um, okay. Amazingly inept, more like.
PROS: Staff is friendly enough - The fence stayed up and didn't fall down.
CONS: Tardy - Customer Service and Regard is Absent - The towel rack fell down!
