The Shubert is just like being at a New York City theatre without leaving the state. They generally have a great season of broadway plays that are much less expensive that going to the "City" and these road shows are always entertaining. The only problem is the top balcony. Never get tickets up here if you are afraid of heights... it is very high and very steep but if you don't mind heights, the view of the stage is unimpeded and you may actually be closer than some of the orchestra seats.
The Cafe 68 has a wide variety of wraps, sandwiches, paninis and salads on their menu. All sandwiches come with sides and they make a great value for lunch. Cafe 68 also provides catering services and the food is always excellent.
The Red Plate has good Italian food and sandwiches and good service for the most part. However, the bar service is excellent. They make a really good drink.
The Hofbrauhaus is an excellent German restaurant in an area that seems to have more than their fair share of Italian restaurants. The food is excellent but the service can be slow. The endings are excellent... Black Forest Cake and Apple Strudel are my favorites.
Shady Glen makes their own ice cream which is excellent. It is also the home of the Bernice Original Cheeseburger. Their cole slaw is good too. This is my favorite meal although not necessarily in this order. The service is generally good.
The Blue Lobster is nothing fancy except for the taste of the food. It is mostly take out with some tables in a very casual restaurant that stresses fresh and tasty. Make up your own meal from stufgfed mushrooms to lobster rolls and shrimp.
Cole Famrs has the best blueberry muffins in the world. It is very basic, very plain... reasonable, clean, good service... it is always packed!!! It opens very early for breakfast then serves excellent lobster rolls, hamburgers and sandwiches for lunch. Dinners are good and can even include prime rib on the weekend. The place has expanded a lot over the years but the food and service is always the best!
Lena's is a nice place for dinner and a great place for a small party. The veal parmigiana and lasagna are excellent. The chicken marsala is also really good. The service is usually great.
Family Pizzeria has pizza and grinders with take out only. I always order the white pizza which is absolutely excellent. I really don't care for their sauce so I steer clear of the red version but recommend the white pizza highly.
Serafino's is an excellent Italian restaurant. I have also been to a private party there where they served a little of everything including stuffed sole which melted in my mouth. The staff is really good and the service is excellent.
