The first time I went here, I ordered half a plate with my cousin. When we got it, we split that half plate in half and ate it. The portion was so huge, that the 1/4 plate had me stuffed for the rest of the day.
Cheap food. Ginormous portions. Delicious cholesterol filled food. Fun all around!
By closet, I mean it literally. Across the street from Albertson's on Hillhurst, Yuca's square footage of parking is ten times larger than the building (if you could even call it that) itself. It's family owned and has won many awards over the years for their excellent burritos and tacos. Los Feliz and Silverlake locals are known to frequent the place, along with the entertainment executive and celebrity regulars.
My favorite order has got to be their carne asada fries. Though they are a bit small, their bangin' taste has got you licking every last bit of of it. I never let a single minced onion escape my lips.
Since there is only 3 people working Yuca's at one time, (not including the sweet grandma that takes your orders and always spells your name wrong), the wait can be a bit long, but it's always worth it. The people that eat there are always friendly, which makes the ambiance quite un-Los Angeles-like.
