There's nothing easy about psychotherapy with Dr Brod and it took longer than I expected to get to where I wanted to be but it was more than worth the time, effort, and expense. He uses a number of modalities and his overall framework is self-regulation. In other words, at least for me, he did not supply the answers, he helped me gain insight so I could figure it out. That's why I said it's not easy doing psychotherapy with him. It's a lot of work!
While he did prescribe meds for me he did so prudently, monitored my responses carefully and made changes based on his observations and my comments and complaints (ie he is not a pill pusher). He employed the latest technology to help make the diagnosis and monitor my progress (SPECT scan, Q-EEGs). He picked up on and correctly diagnosed a medical problem (sleep apnea) that my internist et al had missed for years. (THANK YOU DR BROD!) Dr. Brod initiated the referrals for the proper testing and helped me get into the patient assistance program, which makes the drug I need affordable.
In addition to using these usual treatment modalities, he also suggested using complementary treatments ... from vitamin supplements, to meditation, exercise, EFT, and neurofeedback. I'm still not sure how neurofeedback works but it did, at least for me. His assistant who monitored me and the neurofeedback is an exceptional person, well versed in a number of complementary/holistic treatments (eg. yoga) as well as the basic science upon which this is based. Simply put she is a kind, caring, person and I appreciated her encouragement and honesty when I was sure I wasn't getting anywhere with any of this.
His office staff is also very easy to work with. Although Dr Brod schedules your appointments, his staff is there for insurance questions, messages, the usual office stuff.
